PROJECT POPCORN 50-50 RAFFLE - SPLIT THE POT RULES

50/50 Project Popcorn Raffle Rules The 50/50 Project Popcorn Raffle was created to raise awareness about local non-profits and to raise funds to support one lucky non-profit winning organization.

How it works:Tickets will be sold from May 26, 2026 through Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 4pm online at uwmchenry.goodworldnow.com/e/project-popcorn. A direct link to the online page can be found on the McHenry Outdoor Theater’s website and the United Way of Greater McHenry County’s website.

Ticket prices are 1 ticket for $5 or 5 tickets for $20.

Immediately upon online purchase, the participant will be emailed their ticket numbers. Physical tickets will not be provided for this raffle. One prize will be awarded to one ticket purchaser. One (1) winner will receive a cash prize of half (i.e. 50%) of the Net Proceeds of the Raffle.  “Net Proceeds” means the gross receipts from the conduct of such Raffle, less the reasonable operating expenses incurred by United Way of Greater McHenry County as a result of operating such Raffle. The amount of the prize and the odds of winning are dependent upon how many tickets are sold and how many tickets the purchaser buys.

The other 50% of the net proceeds of the Raffle, will be awarded in increments of $1,000 to the United Way of Greater McHenry County and 2026 Project Popcorn non-profit organization partners whose name(s) will be drawn immediately following the name of the Raffle participant winner. The number of organizations that receive an award will be dependent upon how much money is raised. If less than $2,000 is raised, 50% of the Net Proceeds will be awarded to a single organization.

The winning participant and non-profit benefactor will be selected at random. The drawing will take place on Friday, August 7 at 10:30am at the McHenry Outdoor Theater with employees of the McHenry Outdoor Theater and the United Way of Greater McHenry County present.

Release and Waiver – By entering, you waive, release, and hold harmless the raffle organizer, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from your participation or from the raffle itself.

Raffle participants should not plan to be present at the time of the drawing. The drawing will be captured live on the Facebook and Instagram feeds of the McHenry Outdoor Theater. The winning ticket number and name of the winner will be publicized on the social media pages and websites of the McHenry Outdoor Theater and the United Way of Greater McHenry County.

By participating in the Raffle, the winner grants United Way of Greater McHenry County and the McHenry Outdoor Theater full permission, except where legally prohibited, to use such winner's name, address (city and state only), photograph, personal statements, voice and/or other likeness and prize information for advertising, trade and promotional purposes without further compensation and without notice, review or approval, in all media now known or hereafter discovered, worldwide, and on the Internet and world wide web, in perpetuity. 

The winner will also be notified by phone and/or email. The prize money will be mailed in the form of a check to the winner’s address within one week of the drawing. Must be 18 years old or older to purchase these raffle tickets. Raffle sales are only available in the State of Illinois. This raffle is void where prohibited by law. Winnings are taxable. If the prize exceeds $600 or 300 times the ticket price, the United Way of Greater McHenry County must report it using Form W-2G. For prizes over $5,000, 24% federal withholding applies. All federal, state and local income taxes are the sole responsibility of the individual winners. Any required tax withholding amounts will be withheld by Sponsor from the total prize amount.

 

Raffle ticket purchases are not tax-deductible. They are considered a wager, not a charitable donation United Way of Greater McHenry County is a 501c3 organization.

Raffle License number 26-R-002 issued by the Village of Lakemoor on 5/19/26 and expires on 8/8/26.
